Frequently asked questions

Does the Microsoft 365 SharePoint integration work with OneDrive for Business?
Yes. The Microsoft 365 SharePoint integration for monday.com supports both SharePoint document libraries and OneDrive for Business. Once connected, files and folders from either location appear directly inside monday.com boards – in item views, board views, and dashboards – without leaving the platform. Your Microsoft 365 permissions are respected throughout: users only see files they are authorised to access in SharePoint or OneDrive, so there is no risk of accidental data exposure. Automation targets SharePoint only. SharePoint is designed for team collaboration and shared storage, which makes it the right location for automatically created folders, generated documents, and scheduled spreadsheet exports triggered by monday.com automation recipes. OneDrive for Business is personal storage intended for one user, so it is available for file viewing and access from within monday.com but is not a target for automations. Teams that use both can view personal OneDrive files and shared SharePoint libraries from the same monday.com board.
How many users can use the integration for free?
The free plan supports up to 2 seats, giving small teams full access to every feature in the Microsoft 365 SharePoint integration for monday.com – including SharePoint file embedding, OneDrive for Business access, Excel dashboards, and all automation recipes for document generation, folder creation, and spreadsheet import and export. There is no time limit on the free plan; it is not a trial. Teams with 2 users or fewer can use the integration indefinitely at no cost. For teams of 3 or more, paid plans start at $10 per month for up to 5 seats, scaling in tiers up to 1,000+ seats for enterprise accounts. All paid plans include unlimited automations and full feature access. The free plan does not include dedicated support, but full documentation and getting-started guides are available at monday-help.dsapps.dev. Upgrading to a paid plan can be done at any time from within the monday.com marketplace.
What file types can I export from monday.com using the integration?
The Microsoft 365 SharePoint integration for monday.com supports four export formats: Word documents (.docx), PDF files, Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx), and HTML emails. All four formats are generated from customisable templates stored in SharePoint, using live data pulled from your monday.com boards – including item fields, subitems, column values, and board-level metadata. Word documents and PDFs are generated using a mail-merge style approach: you design a template in SharePoint with placeholders for monday.com data, and the automation fills those placeholders when triggered. Excel export writes board data to a spreadsheet on a schedule you define, keeping a SharePoint-hosted spreadsheet permanently in sync with your board. HTML email generation creates formatted emails from board data, which can be sent automatically as part of an automation recipe. All exports are triggered by monday.com automations – on item creation, status change, date arrival, or on a recurring schedule.
Does setup require a Microsoft 365 administrator?
Yes, a Microsoft 365 administrator is required once during initial setup to grant organisation-wide consent for the integration. This consent allows the app to access SharePoint and OneDrive for Business on behalf of your organisation's users, using Microsoft's standard OAuth 2.0 authorisation flow. The admin consent step is a one-time action – after it is completed, individual users authenticate with their own Microsoft 365 credentials and the administrator has no further involvement in day-to-day use. The permission scope requested is limited to what the integration requires: read and write access to SharePoint document libraries and OneDrive for Business, scoped to each authenticated user's existing permissions. No Global Administrator role is required; a SharePoint Administrator can grant consent in most tenants. Step-by-step admin setup instructions are available in the documentation at monday-help.dsapps.dev/microsoft-365-office-embedded/getting-started.
